--------------<1975>---------------Mr. HUI Leung Wah, chairman of the Group, started a small operation in Kowloon City with three partners, mainly engaged in the manufacture of low end optical frames and parts for optical frames and subcontracting for other optical frame manufacturers. This was the beginning of Elegance International Holdings Ltd. --------------<1979>---------------Mr. Hui established Sun Wah Ngai Optical Factory in Kowloon City as a sole proprietorship, engaged primarily in the manufacture of parts for metal based optical frames and the provision of subcontracting services for other manufacturers. --------------<1982>---------------Expanded business by acquiring the production facilities and raw materials of a Hong Kong based optical frame manufacturer. --------------<1984>---------------Acquired premises in Mai Hing Industrial Building, Kwun Tong, where the Group’s current head office is located. --------------<1985>---------------Set up a manufacturing plant in Shenzhen, the PRC, to take advantage of low production costs and the availability of labour; diversified business into the manufacture of low to upper middle end metal based optical frames; and established Elegance Optical Investments Limited (subsequently renamed as Elegance Optical Manufactory Ltd.) with a local optical frame manufacturer for the manufacture of metal based optical frames. --------------<1987>---------------Established direct contacts with overseas customers and shifted manufacturing emphasis from parts to whole frames. --------------<1990>---------------Extended operations to the manufacture and sale of plastic based optical frames. --------------<1992>---------------Set up a manufacturing joint venture with Swank International Manufacturing Company Limited, on a 50/50 basis in Dongguan, the PRC, to manufacture metal based optical frames; established a design department in Hong Kong to design optical frames for sale under customers’ private labels and the Group’s own brand names; set up the second plant in Shenzhen, the PRC to meet needs of expanding business; and underwent a group re-organization under which Elegance Optical Investments Limited (subsequently renamed as Elegance Optical Manufactory Ltd.) acquired from Mr. Hui the businesses carried on by him known as Sun Wah Ngai Optical Factory and Glory Trading Company. --------------<1993>---------------Introduced the die-casting technology in production process to allow the manufacture of unconventional three dimensional shaped frames. --------------<1995>---------------Started operation of another plant in Dongguan, the PRC to manufacture optical frame cases through a 51% joint venture. --------------<1995>---------------Mr. Hui was awarded the honour of “Young Industrialist of Hong Kong” in recognition of his achievement in the eyewear industry. --------------<1996>---------------Elegance group of companies was listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong in April under the name of Elegance International Holdings Limited. --------------<1996>---------------A new factory premise in Jin Quan Industrial Area in Henggang District in Shenzhen was completed. The gross floor area is over 200,000 sq feet with dormitory facilities for 1,700 persons. --------------<1997>---------------Entered into a cooperation arrangement with Safilo S.p.A, the second largest eyewear operation in the world. --------------<1997>---------------Entered into a license agreement with the Italian brand, Giovanni Valentino, to work on eyewear products. The licensing right covers the manufacturing and distribution rights in Asia and the Greater China area. --------------<1997>---------------Elegance was accredited as the HK Q-mark awardee. HK Q-mark is a quality certification program operated by the Hong Kong government sponsored Federation of Hong Kong Industries. --------------<1998>---------------Elegance was certified as an ISO 9001 accredited manufacturer. The certification confirm that Elegance quality system meets the preset standard. --------------<1999>---------------Hong Kong Productivity Council has awarded a Certificate of Merit to Elegance to recognize her outstanding achievement in raising the productivity. --------------<2004>---------------In March, the new factory building in Jin Quan was completed. The gross floor area of the new building is over 795,000 sq feet with dormitory facilities for 2,200 persons.
